Broccoli Corn Bread

Ingredients:

     1 c yellow corn meal
     1/4 c sugar (optional)
     1/2 t baking soda
     1 c buttermilk
     1/4 c oil
     1 10-oz pkg broccoli, thawed
     1 c all-purpose flour
     3 t baking powder
     1 egg
     1 small onion, chopped
     salt

Directions:

     1.  Sift together corn meal, flour, sugar baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.  
     2.  Add egg, buttermilk, and oil.  Mix until smooth.
     3.  Stir in chopped onion and broccoli.
     4.  Bake in greased 7x11 baking pan in preheated hot oven (425 degrees) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
