Nonna's Chicken Soup

Ingredients:

     1 3-4 lb chicken
     1 onion, chopped
     3 carrots, sliced
     1 can stewed tomatoes
     4 ribs of celery, sliced
     1/2 cup pasta (stars, alphabet, broken spaghetti, ditalini, etc.)
     salt and pepper to taste
     water

Directions:

     1. Cut chicken into individual pieces.
     2. Place all ingredients into a soup kettle, except the pasta.
     3. Cover with water.
     4. Bring to a boil. Then simmer until chicken is tender.
     5. Remove chicken and bring soup back to a rolling boil.
     6. Add pasta and continue to cook until pasta is al dente.
