   1 large onion, chopped
   3 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil
   chopped parsley
   3 small cans of tomato sauce
   1 can tomato paste
   1 teaspoon dried basil (optional)
   salt and pepper to taste


   Saute onion in oil and add parsley.  When onion is slightly brown, add tomato sauce and stir in and dissolve the tomato paste.  Add some water and salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 20 minutes.  Add basil if desired.
